Secondary Leadership in Climate Education (SLiCE)

This project involves four Gloucestershire schools who have self selected to take part. The research explores leadership in the context of climate education.

The objectives of this project are:
• to capture the experience of school leaders over two consecutive years in 4 secondary schools in Gloucestershire, England
in their attempts to address issues of climate change through curriculum, pedagogy, school policy, pastoral care, and
community engagement.
• to identify challenges and opportunities faced by school leaders within each school, and the steps leaders have taken and
are planning to take in addressing these.
• to develop a prospectus for other school leaders attempting to respond to climate change

Meet the team

The original research team comprised of three members of staff at the School of Education at the University of Bristol. Following Dr David Sands’ retirement in October 2022, Prof Paul Howard-Jones as stepped up to Principal Investigator.
